StockSense

Inventory forecasting for Shopify

Reorder before you run out, with the math shown for every number.

Stocky shut down in August 2026. StockSense reads your real sales history, projects when each variant runs out, and tells you how much to reorder, explaining every figure in a sentence.

Reads your inventory, never writes to it. Stores no customer data.

How it works

From sales history to a purchase order

Three reads of the Shopify Admin API, no writes, one location at a time.

1

It reads your real sales

StockSense pulls each variant's recent order history from Shopify and computes a sales velocity in units per day, weighted toward recent weeks so a slow month does not hide a fast one.

2

It projects the stockout and the reorder

From on-hand inventory it works out days-to-stockout, then the reorder point and order quantity from your supplier lead time, safety-stock buffer and target cover. Each figure is shown with the arithmetic behind it.

3

You adjust and export a purchase order

Change the lead time, safety stock or target days and every recommendation recomputes at once. The purchase-order builder lists what needs reordering and exports a CSV for your supplier. It never emails or places an order for you.

Straight about scope

What it does, and what it does not

An inventory tool is only useful if you can trust where its numbers stop. Here is the honest edge.

What StockSense does

  • Sales velocity and days-to-stockout for every variant
  • Reorder point and suggested order quantity, each explained
  • An urgency dashboard ranked critical, low, or healthy
  • Live recompute when you change lead time or safety stock
  • A purchase-order builder with CSV export
  • Import of Stocky's variant and purchase-order CSV exports

What it does not do

  • Place or email orders. CSV export only.
  • Manage suppliers or receiving
  • Forecast more than one location at a time
  • Write to your inventory. It reads only.
  • Store any customer data. Shopify's GDPR webhooks are implemented.
  • Promise a forecast on thin data. It flags low confidence instead.

Questions

Before you install

Is this a drop-in Stocky replacement?

It covers the part most stores relied on: knowing what to reorder and when. You can import Stocky's variant and purchase-order CSV exports as reference history. It does not carry over suppliers, and it does not place orders, so it is a focused replacement rather than a full match.

Will it change my inventory or place orders?

No. StockSense only reads your inventory and order history. The purchase-order builder exports a CSV for you to send to your supplier. Nothing is written back to Shopify and nothing is ordered automatically.

How does it handle a product with very little sales history?

It still shows a figure, but marks the forecast as low confidence rather than presenting a thin-data guess as if it were certain. The math on the card shows exactly what the estimate is based on.

What about customer data and GDPR?

The app stores no customer data. It implements Shopify's three mandated privacy webhooks for data requests, customer redaction and shop redaction.

Can I self-host it?

Yes. StockSense is open source. The repository includes a Dockerfile and deploy configuration for common hosts, and a deploy guide. See the GitHub link below.
